I was recently on a trip to Lexington, KY with my four boys, ages 13, 11, 8, and 5, and wanted them to experience a tour of a horse farm. A friend arranged a tour for us provided by Larry Miano of Thoroughbred Heritage Tours, and it was fantastic! We visited Keeneland Race Track first, and got a chance to watch several horses going through morning workouts. After that, we headed out to horse country and enjoyed an up close and personal tour of the spectacular WinStar Farm. If you are ever in the area and looking for a great horse farm tour, I strongly recommend going.

Highlight of Our Vacation! The Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour was the highlight of our vacation! Our tour guide was very personable and extremely knowledgeable about the area and farms. The horse farms and surrounding areas are beautiful! We got to see champion racehorses up close and personal, and that is indeed a rare opportunity for anyone to see. The tour of Keeneland was absolutely wonderful. I would recommend this tour very highly!

Superb value for the price! Highly Recommended!! Kim - the tour director was a fountain of knowledge regarding the local horse racing and racing support scene. She was on first name basis with a lot of the support staff at each farm we visited which made the experience memorable. She was sharp, on time, quick to respond, and full of local color that could not have been easily obtained via other sources. It was a true pleasure to spend time in her company and observe the Kentucky thoroughbred scene through the eyes of an experienced narrator.

Fabulous! This tour was the highlight for both my husband and I out of our 8-day trip around Kentucky......and we are not even "horse people"! Our guide, Nicholas, is a horse farm manager, trainer and horse owner. He was personable, knowledgeable, insightful and very willing to answer questions so that we could get the most out of the experience. Our trip started at the Keeneland race track where we could see horses on their morning workouts, tour the grounds and some of the buildings. It was quite busy there as a multi-day horse auction was going on. Then we were driven through the surrounding countryside, around inside a huge, beautiful horse farm, over to see the grave of Seattle Slew, and finally stopped at the Magdalena farm. There we were able to visit the beautiful horses and learn more from the manager. It was a terrific learning experience as well as a great way to get a "feel" of the local culture and see the wonderful scenery. I highly recommend this tour.....it was WELL worth the cost!

"Horse Lovers Catnip" Any horse lover would love this tour of Keeneland Downs and horse farms. We saw horses working on the track while at Keeneland, and wandered these beautiful grounds. We finished with a stop at a wonderful horse farm, with the farm manager graciously showing us around. Saw mares and foals, current racing stock and a goat! Larry, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a full van load, but were very comfortable. Great value for the price.
